Table Talk · Lesson 3
Roulette Layout: Where Bets Sit
Map inside and outside bets on a roulette layout and remember that wheel type changes probabilities.
Wheel types
American wheels commonly include 0 and 00; many European wheels include a single 0. That extra pocket changes house edge. Layout education starts by knowing which wheel you are on.
Digital and live-dealer products may simulate different wheels — read the help screen.
No layout trick removes the house edge on standard bets.
Inside vs outside
Inside bets target specific numbers or small sets on the number grid. Outside bets cover larger groups such as red/black, odd/even, or dozens — with correspondingly different payouts.
Chip placement must be clear before the dealer waves off bets. Ambiguous placement can be refused or mis-assigned.
Static diagrams on educational sites are not a live table.
Myths to drop
“Due” colors or numbers are a famous fallacy. Independent spins do not owe a balance sheet.
Martingale-style progressions after losses can hit table limits and bankroll limits quickly. That is risk escalation, not a proof.
Takeaways
- Know whether the wheel has one zero or two before you talk edge.
- Inside bets are more specific; outside bets cover broader sets.
- Past spins do not force future results.
