Table Talk · Lesson 2

Blackjack Etiquette Without the Intimidation

Learn table manners that keep the game moving and reduce conflict — especially for newer adults.

All lessons

Buy-in and hands

Cash is usually placed on the felt for the dealer to exchange; players typically do not hand cash hand-to-hand. Follow the table’s instructions.

In face-up games, avoid touching cards if the house says not to. In face-down pitch games, follow local handling norms.

Signals for hit/stand should be clear. Ambiguous gestures create disputes.

Respect the pace and people

Phone use, coaching other players loudly, or blaming others for “taking the dealer’s bust card” creates heat. Other players’ choices are not your entitlement.

Tip according to your own budget and local norms if you choose; tipping is not owed as a math correction for losses.

NinoBets encourages kindness at tables. Etiquette is not superstition.

Leaving cleanly

Color up chips with the dealer when leaving mid-shoe if that is the house process. Say “no more bets” clearly if you skip a hand.

If you feel angry, leave sooner — etiquette includes protecting others from your tilt.

Takeaways

  • Follow cash and card-handling house procedures.
  • Do not police other players’ basic strategy.
  • Exit politely when limits or emotions say stop.
