Slip Journal · Lesson 1
Logging Bets Without Building a Tout Sheet
Capture decisions in a simple, repeatable format so you can study your behavior — not sell picks.
Why log at all
Memory rewrites losses as bad luck and wins as skill. A short log slows that rewrite.
NinoBets journaling is educational. It is not a tipster pipeline, not a sportsbook ticket history, and not financial advice.
If logging makes you want to bet more, shrink the hobby or stop — the tool should serve limits, not feed urge.
Minimum useful fields
Date, sport or game, market wording, stake in units, odds, result, notes, and a process grade cover most recreational needs.
Units keep stake sizes comparable across weeks. Dollars alone hide whether you quietly raised risk.
On-site tools may store entries in browser localStorage on your device. Clearing site data can erase them.
Log skips too
Recording “skipped — tilted / over budget / unclear rules” teaches as much as recording a wager.
Passing is a decision worth grading positively when it matches your plan.
Takeaways
- Logs fight hindsight bias; they are not pick factories.
- Units + process grade matter as much as win/loss.
- Skipped bets belong in the journal.
